Main Processing Units(MPU)
At the heart of the PPC lies the MPU (Main Processing Unit) which is responsible for the receiving and storing PPC configuration information, execution of control strategies, all the communications in controller level and the management of I/O modules. The MPUs in PPC are formed around a family of powerful 32 bit RISC CPUs.
The FF LD-1 01 is a gateway between an FF High Speed Ethernet (FF-HSE) subnet and four FF-H1 links. This Linking Device provides access to the field devices connected to the H1 networks from supervisory and control systems as well as engineering and asset management applications on the High Speed Ethernet.
I/O modules are the main interface between PPCs and conventional non-smart sensors and actuators. These modules are fully compatible with IEC61131-2 recommendations. They are fully isolated and have self diagnostic and status report functionality.
A comprehensive set of analog and digital input and output modules are available in the MAPCS. The I/O modules can be used in redundant configuration, eliminating single point of failures in the I/O subsystem of the ppc.
The MODBUS Geteway can operate in Modbus Master mode to communicate with remote MODBUS devices. The controller can be configured as a Modbus Master to control and obtain information from Modbus Slaves (such as PLCs used for control of standalone packages).
Along with the state of the art FOUNDATION Fieldbus connectivity, MAPCS has developed solutions that provide the connections between the MAPCS control system, HART field instruments, and the asset management system. The HART enabled I/O of MAPCS PPC support HART-6 universal and common practice commands.
