Abstract

Induction motors are highly important for qualities such as high reliability, proper torque, high power, compact and precise speed control and are widely used in power plant industries, chemical industry, textile mills, glass industry, transport and handling systems, home electrical appliances, oil and gas and escalators. Proper control practices used in permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) are: V/F control and direct control, field-oriented control (FOC). Field-oriented control is a new method of controlling induction motor. The project sought to design and manufacture a standard and industrial induction motor drive with applications in power plant and industrial requirements of MAPNA. Given the higher prices of imported drives and sanctions, the output of the project would bring higher profits for company. MECO uses three 5, 15, and 75KW drives in turbocompressors. With the prices of these drives almost tripled, manufacturing of them is economically justified for MAPNA.

Objectives, innovation and achievements of the project

Under current conditions, country’s hard-pressed industries are in desperate need for these drives and a domestic accredited brand. Despite many attempts in the field, no dominant manufacturer has raised its own brand in industry.

Conclusion:

As the sole manufacturer of steam and gas power plants in the region and massive oil and gas projects at hand, MAPNA Group should equip itself with capability and technical expertise of manufacturing equipment with different technical features. Otherwise, great EU and US and even Asian companies will overtake the market in terms of their high competition.
